True Lykanthropos

Full view of a male True Lycanthropos

The True Lykanthropos are the Infected by feralytosis with Altan blood. Although in the past there were Human Lykanthropos

They are humanoids with the appearance of bipedal Protanthropos of great size and strength with a long snout with multiple rows of teeth, they are the carrier of the dreaded Feralytosis disease.
Anyone unfortunate enough to be infected is gutted of their humanity and left as an aggressive husk with no judgment or conscience, depending on who you ask, they are considered to be either animals or poor sick people.

They used to be considered the biggest plague in Terminus, all inhabitants of all civilizations and factions considered them a common enemy due to their highly aggressive behavior that does not discriminate against anyone. In the past, they could be found almost anywhere in Terminus until their large numerical reduction due to their involvement in the conflict against the rift entities. With uncontrolled and erratic behavior, the True Lykanthropos had a primitive organization in large hordes of over 100 individuals.

Anatomy

With specimens reaching up to 3 meters in height, they are bipedal creatures but can use their upper limbs to run quadrupedally without any difficulty.
True Lycanthropes are slender, tall and with little musculature compared to their cousins the Modern Werewolves.
They have a dark greenish, scraggly and battered fur, their skin is commonly scarred and streaked or patches of scraggly skin in areas of sparse hair, and all their limbs have long, non-retractable, sharp claws.
The infectious gland of the True Lycanthropes is located in the secondary fangs behind the main canines, these glands contain the infectious fluid that spreads Feralytosis.

Altan Blood

True Lykanthropos are classified based on the species of the infected subject; currently all surviving True Lycanthropes have Altan blood.

Human Blood

In the past there were True Lycanthropos with human blood, this variant was very common until its gradual disappearance after the demise of the Humans.
Although True Lycanthropos with human blood no longer exist, the descendants of the ancient Human-blooded True Lycanthropos, the Modern Werewolves, still exist today.

Replication

The method of reproduction of the True Lycanthropos is through bites. And although the sighting of a lycanthrope offspring has never been documented, the possibility that they can reproduce with each other is not ruled out.
This can be partly confirmed by the fact that Modern Werewolves - descendants of True Lycanthropos - can reproduce naturally.

Connection with the Feralytosis

Infectious system

True Lycanthropos are the only known carrier of this disease and cause contagion through bites.
The main symptoms are mainly a total change in body anatomy, enlargement, facial elongation, aggressive tendencies, loss of survival instinct and a great appetite for the flesh of the original species of the infected subject.
There is no cure or preventative treatment for the disease, so it is common that if someone suspects they have been infected they will commit suicide to avoid suffering, despite this the disease will continue to prevail and the infected corpse will eventually become a True Lycanthropos, the practice to avoid this is to burn the corpse.
For some time, Feralytosis was considered the most feared evil in Terminus.

Origin

Stages of transformation

For the average inhabitant of Terminus, the origin of the True Lycanthropos is unknown, the explanation of their existence was simply narrated as a horrible story that happened centuries ago.
There are several legends about these creatures, one of these stories tells of Lycion, the first infected by Feralytosis and how he is still alive to this day hidden from society because of his shame at being the cause of the infection.

In the past, the legendary author Kazia described for the first time the process of infection, transmission and transformation by Feralytosis in great detail since she had witnessed firsthand the whole process by observing how a companion who had been bitten on the arm by a lycanthrope gradually transformed.
In the Altan records, there is a record of the first encounter with a werewolf, this occurred decades before the onset of the mass extinction caused by the Feralytosis Infected and is reputed to be the first recorded encounter with a werewolf.

The record tells that centuries ago, a group of Altan soldiers killed a beast that attacked a market stall at the time, the records describe the beast as a tall and stout creature, running on all four limbs, with long claws and a snout with a long row of sharp teeth, exactly the same description as that of a True Lycanthropos, the corpse of this beast was lost many years ago.
After this event, and a few years before the rift rupture and the emergence of the rift entities, a mass extinction occurred and was caused by the True Lycanthropos, who indiscriminately slaughtered much of the Terminus fauna as well as populations of all civilizations at that time.
